Saara Jamieson (born 1986) is an Australian entrepreneur who is the chief executive officer and founder of Cool Beans Underwear[1]

Jamieson studied at The University of Queensland gaining a Bachelor of Science - BS, Animal and Veterinary Bioscience 2011 - 2016

Personal[edit]

Saara Jamieson was born in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. She attended Ipswich Girls Grammar secondary school. Notable past alumni of Ipswich Girls Grammar include (amongst many others),

At high school, Jamieson had aspirations of becoming a business owner after working part-time as a logistics coordinator with her parents at their family run business Aura Sports Ltd.

Saara credits working at Australia’s No.1 indoor sports and multi-purpose flooring specialists with her family, with developing her entrepreneurial drive as ‘she never forgot the freedom and excitement from building a successful family business.’

After high school, Jamieson enrolled at The University of Queensland, gaining a Bachelor of Science - BS, Animal and Veterinary Bioscience. At this time, Jamieson met her future husband, Jordan, and it was their infertility struggles that inspired Jamieson to create Cool Beans Underwear

Career[edit]

Medical Researcher[edit]

After university Jamieson worked for QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute from 2014 - 2017 where she worked in the gastroenterology lab studying Colorectal Cancer.

Jamieson has co-authored a number of scientific papers including:

  • APC Mutation Marks an Aggressive Subtype of BRAF Mutant Colorectal Cancers[2]
  • APC Mutation marks an aggressive subtype of BRAF mutant colorectal cancers that are associated with early-onset and dismal prognosis[3]
  • MLH1-93 G/A Polymorphism is Associated with MLH1 Promoter Methylation and Protein Loss in Dysplastic Sessile Serrated Adenomas with BRAFV600E Mutation[4]
  • Oncogenic BRAF mutation induces DNA methylation changes in a murine model for human serrated colorectal neoplasia[5]
  • MLH1–93 single nucleotide polymorphism predisposes dysplastic sessile serrated adenomas to the development of promoter hypermethylation[6]
  • RNF43 is mutated less frequently in Lynch Syndrome compared with sporadic microsatellite unstable colorectal cancers[7]
  • BRAF mutation induces widespread DNA hypermethylation in a murine model for human serrated colorectal neoplasia[8]
  • Abstract PR04: Wnt and MAPK pathway activation in conventional and serrated colorectal neoplasia

Formation of Cool Beans[edit]

After trying to fall pregnant for over three and a half years, spending $10,000 plus, and suffering through miscarriages, Saara and husband Jordan leaned on their own experiences both personally and professionally, to help others who are struggling to fall pregnant or are interested in their reproductive health and want to do something real that could actually help their reproductive health.

Combining Sara's extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology including reproduction and thermoregulation, and Jordan's insights from his professional work and studies, Saara started perfecting the design of Cool Beans - Men's Health Underwear. Saara says her patented[9] men's underwear is a breakthrough men's fertility health and helps increase sperm health without the invasive procedures, expensive treatments or embarrassing conversations.

In 2021 Cool Beans Underwear was entered into the TGA Register as a medical device (ARTG 379655)[10] under Cool Beans Underwear's umbrella company Mahtava Enterprises Pty Ltd.[11]

Personal life[edit]

Jamieson married Jordan in 2013. Jordan has a Bachelor of Medical Imaging Science and Bachelor of Education, with significant study in human anatomy and physiology; experience with patient care and satisfaction; and clinical education of students and colleagues. He has worked as a radiographer in a major Brisbane hospital for past seven years.

The couple now have two children, Van (age 5) and Heidi (aged 3) and live north of Ipswich on her family property.
