Sabrina Dhowre Elba

Sabrina Dhowre Elba, commonly written as Sabrina Elba is a Somali-Canadian model, activist and United Nations Goodwill Ambassador. Elba is the co-founder of cosmetics company S’ABLE Labs and the co-developer of the animated television series with the working title Dantai.

Early life and education[edit]

Elba's graduated from Howard University. In 2014, she was Miss Vancouver.[1]

Career and activism[edit]

In 2020, she was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development.[2] She has spoken at the World Economic Forum (WEF), in 2020 about food security[3] and in 2023, speaking about, about investment in the global south.[4] The WEF awarded Elba and her husband their Crystal Award in 2023.[5][6] She has also spoken at the Global Citizen Festival in 2022[7] and at the United States–Africa Leaders Summit 2022.[8] She appeared at the LACMA Art+Film Gala.[9] She appeared at the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference, advocating for small farmers.[10]

Sabrina and Idris Elba, are executive producers of the upcoming Afrofuturist sci-fi Anime television series with the working title Dantai.[11] The couple also created the cosmetics brand, S’ABLE Labs.[12][13]
