Sacrilege Heavy Rock

Vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Bill Beadle formed the English band Sacrilege in 1982 involving his friend Alex Cookson, thanks to an announcement on Melody Maker. Bill and Alex met the drummer Rick Burgess and bass player Steve Barrs. In 1983 Sacrilege recorded a Demo with four songs and considered as the best band of the same year. The band was invited to the David Jensen Rock Shows, on the 6th episode. Many other bands joined in the same week like The Stranglers. After this event, the band made a tour in Great Britain that ended at the famous Marquee in London. John Glovers asked the band to participate in a compilation album with other NWOBHM bands as Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Saxon and many more. Unfortunately this project was cancelled because Go West, John Glovers’s band, reached number one in the charts at that time. Another unfortunate event for Sacrilege was the missed opportunity to play with Iron Maiden in front of Neil Harris, due to the drummer who had an accident to his hand just the day before the concert. Sacrilege recorded the album “Gates Of Hell” in 1983 and after a line change one year later, in which Max Chan replaced Steve Barrs on bass and the drummer Steve On joined the band, a new Demo was recorded. This was the first era of Sacrilege, Bill Beadle decided to stop the band, to come back into action after about 25 years. In 2007 Bill re-recorded the first Sacrilege pieces, wrote and recorded new music. Bill with the collaboration of lead guitarist Pekka Loikkenan, the album “Gates of Hell” was re-recorded and released. The “Sacrilege” album was released in 2009 and is followed by “The Unknown Soldier” two years later, in 2011, the same year in which Bill Beadle released “The Wraith”, a concept album inspired by ‘Stargate Atlantis’ TV series. “The Wraith” features the lead guitarist Neil Abnett. In 2012 Sacrilege returned to stage with a new lineup and in 2013 the new album “Sacrosanct” was released. Perhaps the real turning point for Sacrilege was when the drummer Neil Turnbull (ex Dervish in the 80s, NWOBHM band) joined the band. Soon Jeff Rolland on bass and Paul Macnamara (formerly Salem) on lead guitar became part of the band. It’s in 2015 Sacrilege signed with the label Pure Steel Records, and via the label the band released three albums: “Ashes to Ashes” (album compilation), “six6six” and “The Curt Of The Insane”, this last one released in August 2019. With such good worldwide reviews, the band still plays in festivals and concerts. In addition, Sacrilege released in 2020 the video for the title track “The Curt Of The Insane”, filmed in Giarole, Italy at Castello Sannazaro, by the Italian director and writer Marco Paracchini and produced by the band manager Valeria Campagnale.
