Sadia Khalid Reeti

Sadia Khalid Reeti (Bengali: সাদিয়া খালিদ রীতি) is a Bangladeshi film critic, journalist, screenwriter. She is the Cultural Editor of Dhaka Tribune. She has been a jury member in several national and international film festivals including the Cannes Film Festival,[1][2] Golden Globes,[3] She's a member of the International Federation of Film Critics.[4] Reeti teaches film studies at multiple universities and film institutions, and she is the recipient of Charles Wallace Fellowship from the British Council.[5] Reeti is the first Bangladeshi woman to be a jury at the Cannes.[6] She is the second Bangladeshi woman to be a part of the jury of the Golden Globes Awards.[7]

Biography[edit]

She has studied script writing at the School of Theatre, Film and Television department in University of California, after finishing her Honors in Marketing and Human Resource Management from the North South University.[8] She is a Berlinale Talent Press alumna. She has attended mentorship programs with Film Independent and Locarno Open Doors.[5] Before starting her journalism career, she worked in a bank in Bangladesh.[9] She began her film journalism career in 2012, working in L.A. and Dhaka.[8] She has worked for various local and international media outlets including the Daily Bruin, the LA Times,[7] The Daily Star.[9] In 2020, she was a film critic at the Berlinale Talents, which is the annual summit and networking platform of the Berlin International Film Festival.[7]
