SageTea Software is a software company that helps transform complex databases into simpler and faster databases. SageTea is an acronym that stands for State, Activity, Group, Element, Transition, Event, and Action. The company’s main product is the Text to Software. It reads and creates custom applications with the use of natural language.

SageTea was founded in 2007, with co-founder Scott McGregor. The company is based in Ottawa, Canada, and has been in business for more than a decade.

SageTea works closely with various universities and has partnerships with businesses, like Cobalt Speech and Language, Willis College, and also the University of New Brunswick’s Faculty of Computer Science.[1]

In 2019 SageTea filed a claim that Employment and Social Development Canada (ESCD) was using intellectual property without paying for the licensing fees. ESCD denied all claims and countersued, claiming that SageTea inappropriately used the federal government's data to develop its own proprietary software.[2]
