Salman Saeed is an award-winning Pakistani information activist,[1] social entrepreneur,[2] digital media evangelist and a public speaker. He is best known as the founder of Khan Meter[3], a digital initiative and online platform to document and track the performance of Pakistani Prime Minister, Imran Khan, which attracted a wide global attention[4]. The initiative, modelled after Obameter and TrudeauMeter, is considered to be the first of its kind in Pakistan to hold a Prime Minister accountable for his promises.
He is also known for selling his blog 'Gagism'[5] for 100K USD to an Australian firm for which he got a lot of media recognition and an Innovation Hero Award from Chief minister of Punjab, in 2012. He is a TEDx curator[6] at TED (conference), public speaker and country ambassador for AngelHack.
Early life and background[edit]
Salman was born in Swabi District a district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where he completed his schooling. He then shifted to Islamabad and completed his high school from OPF Boys College Islamabad. During his high school, he did GCE Ordinary Level and GCE Advanced Level from University of Cambridge. Subsequently, he got into accountancy at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. In an interview, he mentioned that during his major in accountancy, he got into Photography and Blogging which is here his entrepreneurial journey started. He then completed his Bachelors of Science in Applied Accounting & Finance from Oxford Brookes University.
