Samuel Bone (born 6 February 1998) is an English professional footballer who plays as a center back for Irish Premier Division club St Patrick's Athletics. Being born in Malaysia, he is eligible to play for either Malaysia or England.[1]
Early life
Bone was born in Kuching, Malaysia. His family moved to England when he was five after his dad, former Sarawak FA player Billy Bone, retired from playing football.[2]
Club career
Sam Bone began his career at Charlton Athletic in 2012/13 but failed to make a league appearance during his 3 years at the club. He quit and stopped playing football for a while, due to a diagnosis of testicular cancer.[3] After fully recovering, Bone agreed to move to Ireland for three weeks to train with Shamrock Rovers. In February 2017, he officially joined Shamrock Rovers making 42 league appearances and scoring 2 goals. During this time he also spent time on loan at Waterford FC, making 22 league appearances and scoring one goal. Bone joined the current club St Patrick's Athletic in January 2021.
