Hossam "Sam" Youssef (born May 21, 1965), also known as Hossam Kamal, is an Egyptian-American author, researcher, counselor, cognitive and theocentric psychologist, physical therapist, and ordained spiritual minister.[1]

Professional life

Youssef founded the Healing Light Therapy Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Presently he is the founder and the chief counselor of The Higher Mind Center for online counseling services.[1]

Youssef is a doctoral researcher and doctor of philosophy candidate at Grand Canyon University (a private, for-profit university with regional accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission[2]);[3] Youssef has also received a doctor of philosophy degree in parapsychology from the University of Metaphysics (a.k.a. University of Sedona, an online-only institution that lacks educational accreditation[4][5][6]), a doctor of philosophy degree in Pastoral Counseling Psychology from the University of Sedona, a Doctor of Theocentric Psychology from University of Sedona,[7] a Master of Science Degree in Neurological Rehabilitation from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science Chicago Medical School, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from Cairo University (in Egypt). As an academician, Youssef's main area of research interest is the human subconscious and the archetypes theory of Carl Jung. Youssef has promoted the integration of spirituality and psychology, as reflected in the title of his April 2022 book, Spirituality & Psychology: Spiritual Integration in Counseling Psychology: "The Hidden Subconscious Healing Power of the Human Spirit", published by Balboa Press (ISBN 979-8765227404 Search this book on .), and during various recorded interviews, such as a radio interview and podcast with the Saint Louis Pain Experts Podcast (second on the website).[8][9] Youssef is also a researcher on holistic psychosomatic therapy programs in physical therapy.

Accolades

Youssef was recognized by the Center of Excellence Academy in England in 2021 with their Career Achievement Award in 2020 and with their Outstanding Therapist Award.[1] He was awarded the "Clinician of the Year Award" in 2018 by the board of directors of Gentiva Health Care (a.k.a. Kindred Healthcare) in Indiana.[1]
