Samiksha Bhatt is an Indian film and television actress. She began her acting career with the Oscar nominated feature film Ballad of Rustom. [1] She went on to appear in several television serials, most notably as Sita in Sankat Mochan Hanumaan and as Chandni in Uff! Yeh Nadaniyaan. She worked in feature films such as Ballad of Rustom, The Zero Line, Kuch Alag Sa, Hinsa Par Vijay, The Past, short films such as Love Letters, Qoft, Papa, Valentine, Naermugam and shows like Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev, Tota Weds Maina, Na Aana Is Des Laado, Encounter, Akbar Birbal, Khauff Begins... Ringa Ringa Roses etc. Her latest release is the horror feature film The Past, where she has played a ghost who has a past. [2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11] [12][13]

Early life and family[edit]

Samiksha was born in Dungarpur. Her family later moved to Jaipur. Her mother, Late Rachana Bhatt worked as the branch manager of Bank of Baroda. Her father, Dr. Raghava S. Bhatt has worked as vice president for multinational groups of marble mining. He now works as a marble mining consultant as well as an Astrology and Vastu consultant.[14] Samiksha has been an all-rounder in school and college. She won numerous awards in academics, dancing, singing, drawing and quiz competitions. She was given the title of Miss Paulina and Best Student Award in St. Paul's Senior Secondary School. She used to actively participate in plays at school and college.She pursued a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communication from the Manipal University.[15][16]

Early career[edit]

In the final year of graduation, she began auditioning for films and bagged a prominent role in the film Ballad of Rustom, that later went on be in the contention for Oscars for Best Feature Film in the 86th Academy Awards, 2014.[17][18] She finished shooting for it along with her course at Manipal, but gave interviews in software companies with the idea of having a stable income and landed with placement in two companies at the same time. She went on to work as a software engineer in an American firm in Bangalore for a short while. She soon realized that this is not where her passion lies and wanted to pursue a career in acting. She began auditioning along with working as a software engineer. She did a few projects like the Tamil telefilm Naermugam[16][15] that won the Best Film award on Kalaignar TV, a Mortein commercial, and a few print shoots. She used to get a lot of offers and audition calls from Mumbai while she was in Bangalore. This, along with her film Ballad of Rustom winning accolades in numerous international film festivals motivated her to move to Mumbai leaving her job behind.

Acting career[edit]

In 2012, Samiksha moved to Mumbai for a full-time career in acting. She began auditioning fervently and soon was selected to play the lead role of Sita in television serial Sankat Mochan Hanumaan. She completed 230 episodes of the same.[19] Alongside, she was a member of Pritha theatre group. Later she played the leading role of Chandni in comedy television serial Uff! Yeh Nadaniyaan and completed 120 episodes of the same.[20][21] She established herself as a versatile actress doing leading roles of contrasting variety in feature films Ballad of Rustom, The Zero Line, Kuch Alag Sa, Hinsa Par Vijay, The Past and short films Love Letters, Qoft, Papa, Valentine, Naermugam and shows like Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev, Tota Weds Maina, Na Aana Is Des Laado, Encounter, Akbar Birbal, Khauff Begins... Ringa Ringa Roses etc. Her latest release is the horror feature film The Past, where she has played the ghost who has a past.
