Sammy Wonder, known professionally as BJ Sam, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter.[1]

Music career[edit]

Sam started music at IBC Choir, Ibadan, an international classical mass choir consisting of different professional singers and later formed an accapella/R&B group called The Simplest Guyz.[2] In 2012 he started his solo music career and released his song "Mon Amour" in 2017 which grabbed the attention of Hollywood music supervisors, who added his songs to their catalogues including Ben Kopec, the president of Epitome Music Library, Suzanna Hilleary, the president of Wacbiz, and Lloyd Kaufman, co-founder of Troma Entertainment.[3]

In 2017, the American film director Lloyd Kaufman selected his song "Mon Amour" for the soundtrack of the Hollywood movie Heart of Fartness.[4][5][6]

The music video also got the attention of TV5Monde the 3rd most available television network in the world to interview him on their musical program Stars Parade and also invited him to perform at their musical concert "Tounkagouna".[7]

In December 2022, BJ Sam became the first musician to feature musicians from all the continents of the world in one song, which include Hollywood Actor Paul Raci, Bollywood playback singer Jaspinder Narula, Ghanaian singer Diana Hopeson, and Swiss actress Christina Zurbrügg.[8] [9]

As a result of the war in Ukraine; in 2023 BJ Sam assembled 23 artists from all continents of the world to release a music video “Show some love”, asking Russians to drop their weapons and embrace peace.[10]
