Samuel Ferreira Fraguito (born 8 September 1951), known as Samuel Fraguito, is a retired Portuguese footballer who played as a midfielder. A native of Vila Real, he is a product of the local football system who went on to have a successful career with some of Portugal's top clubs.
Early life
Born in Vila Real, Fraguito spent part of his youth in Brazil, where he played in the youth academy of Fluminense FC. He returned to Portugal at age 15 to begin his senior career.
Career
Fraguito began his professional career with his hometown club, SC Vila Real, before moving to Boavista F.C. in 1970. His impressive performances there earned him a move to Sporting CP in 1972. He played for Sporting for nine seasons, winning two league titles and three Portuguese Cups. He was an integral part of the team's success during the 1970s.
He also represented the Portugal national team, making 6 appearances and scoring 1 goal between 1973 and 1976. He concluded his career with a final spell at SC Vila Real.
