Samuel Isaiah Kane is an American trial lawyer and Republican political candidate based in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He is the founder of the Law Office of Samuel I. Kane, P.A. (doing business as Kane Personal Injury), a personal injury law firm he established in 2004.Kane is a candidate in the 2026 Republican primary for Attorney General of New Mexico.
Early life and education
Kane earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida.He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law, graduating magna cum laude and being inducted into the Order of the Coif.
Legal career
After law school, Kane served as a federal law clerk to United States District Judge Robert C. Brack of the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico.In 2004 he founded the Law Office of Samuel I. Kane, P.A. in Las Cruces, with a practice focused on personal injury and wrongful death litigation, including motor-vehicle, trucking, aviation and premises liability claims.
For several years Kane held the public defender contract for the City of Las Cruces, handling criminal misdemeanor matters including driving under the influence cases.He is admitted to practice law in New Mexico and Texas.
Aviation
Kane is a licensed commercial pilot. In a January 2021 profile in the Las Cruces Sun-News, he discussed using his pilot's license to fly humanitarian and faith-based mission trips to South America.
2026 Attorney General campaign
Kane filed as a Republican candidate for Attorney General of New Mexico in the 2026 election cycle, seeking to challenge incumbent Democrat Raúl Torrez.At the Republican Party of New Mexico's pre-primary convention in Ruidoso on March 7, 2026, Kane received 412 delegate votes and qualified for the June 2, 2026 primary ballot. His campaign, conducted under the banner "Sam for New Mexico," emphasizes restoring "the rule of law" in the state.
