Sanal Aman (born 6 January 1986) is an Indian actor who prominently works in Malayalam films. He first gained recognition in 2015 with the film Unto the dusk (Malayalam: അസ്തമയം വരെ or Asthamayam Vare) by Sajin Baabu. He rose to fame after his performance as a 17-year-old in the Malayalam political thriller Malik by Mahesh Narayanan for which he won the SIIMA Award for Best Debutant Actor in 2022. He further appeared in films like Eli Eli Lama Sabachthani?(2016), Veeram (2016), Pixelia(2018), Thara (2021) and Qadeesho(2022).

Early Life[edit]
Sanal Aman was born in Kannur, Kerala to Asokan and Sathi. He has a younger brother named Amal N.
As early as the age of 10, he had begun acting in school dramas. After completing his schooling in Kannur, he moved to Kollam Sree Narayana College to complete his graduation in Mass Communication and Video Production. After the completion of his graduation, he further studied for six years to learn the craft of theatre and acting from Drama school Thrissur, Central University of Hyderabad, and National School of Drama respectively. During this period he worked with eminent theatre personalities like Anuradha Kapur, Kirti Jain, Robin Das, Venu G, Kapila Venu, Abhilash Pillai, Tripurari Sharma, Adil Hussain, Rajesh Tailang, Hema Singh, Dinesh Khanna (director), Basavalingayya, Santanu Bose, Annie Ruth, Heisnam Kanhailal, Sabitri Heisnam, Prasanna (theatre director), Sreejith Ramanan, etc.
Getting attracted towards the Koodiyattam teachings of his guru G Venu during the National School of Drama days, he had further joined in the first batch of Navarasa sadhana taught by Sri. Venu G at his school Natanakairali, Irinjalakuda.

It was through an audition that Sanal Aman was cast in the lead role in Unto the Dusk directed by Sajin Baabu which was his first feature project in Malayalam. His performance as a young seminarian from a troubled background in this film gained him attention and he was then cast in the leading role in Jiju Antony's multilingual film Eli Eli Lama Sabachthani? (film). It was in 2016 that Mahesh Narayanan noticed Sanal during the show The Lover (play) by Harold Pinter directed and acted by Sanal Aman and Santhy Balachandran as a co-actor. Later in 2019, Mahesh Narayanan casted him as Freddy in his most acclaimed film Malik (film) in which he shined sharing the screen along with Fahadh Faasil. He did Yoga for one and a half months to get in shape of a 17-year-old boy to play the key role character in Malik .
