Sandeep Bansal.[1][2][3] (Hindi pronunciation: [‘ संदीप बंसल:]; born June 9, 1968)[4] is an Indian politician, social activist, and a businessman.
He is the National President of Akhil Bhartiya Udhyog Vyapar Mandal[5][6][7]; a trade union established by him in 1993. He also served as Minister of State twice in the Uttar Pradesh Government from December 2013 to May 2014 and April 2015 to April 2017, respectively.
Bansal has been the Chairman of the Board of Trade, Member of the Business Tax Facilitation Committee and Business Tax Advisory Committee, and various government committees set up by the government to solve the problems of traders.
EARLY LIFE & EDUCATION
Sandeep Bansal, son of Shri Subhash Chandra Bansal and Shrimati Shashi Bansal, was born on June 9, 1968, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. His father is a retired government official of the Geological Survey of India. He is married to Mrs. Vandana Bansal and has two children, a daughter and a son.
After pursuing a B.Sc. from Lucknow Christian College, he entered the world of business, but after doing so, he joined Vyapar Mandal after seeing the countless problems and exploitation of the traders[8].
SOCIAL CAREER
1990 - Appointed as the chairman of Lucknow Yuva Udhyog Vyapar Mandal[9][10]
1992 - Bansal was mortally attacked by students for opposing the call of ‘Lucknow Bandh’ by some chaotic elements, but Mr. Bansal moved towards the struggle and truth for the honor of the merchant society.
1993 - In order to develop youth leadership in the business society, he formed a trade body by the name of UP Yuva Udhog Vyapar Mandal and was elected as its President.
1996 - After the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel by the National Front Government while U.P. was under the President's rule, he went to jail for three days with some fellow businessmen for breaking barriers and protesting outside the Raj Bhavan of U.P. for the same.
1999 - When Shri Ram Prakash Gupta became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Bansal resolved the problems of the people and business society with full sincerity, dedication, and service, while staying at the helm of power as his associate / disciple. He created a rage against corruption in the general public and business society, and by inspiring everyone to live a life of cultural values, he has formed an organization that has vowed not to increase the leprosy of corruption further.
2001 - Bansal[11] formed the Akhil Bhartiya Udhyog Vyapar Mandal with the objective of uniting the business people at the national level and addressing their problems.
2003 – 2007 - Years of protests for the goodwill of the trader's society. The agitation level of the protests towards VAT (Value Added Tax) led to a thirty-minute meeting with the then Finance Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram, resulting in acceptance of some demands of the traders.[12]
2011 –2017 - These years mark the onset of the awareness among masses about the traders through Vyapari Jagran Yatras[13], celebration of Traders Day every year on September 3rd, Protests against anti- traders policies[14][15].
2017 onward – Bansal and his trader community have been successful in pitching themselves as imperative beings of the economy and they fight hard to attain some substantial changes in every GST Council meeting[16][17][18][19][20]
