Sanjay Aggarwal is an aviation professional turned entrepreneur and a co-founder of SAR Trilogy Management [1]. SAR Trilogy is an aviation investment and management firm that primarily invests in aviation infrastructure for both private and commercial aviation. Some of the key activities involve the development and ownership of fixed-base operations, aircraft management companies, and aviation fuel farms. Aggarwal has over 30 years of experience in aviation, hospitality, and manufacturing industries.
Career
Global Crew Logistics
After spending four years in India, in 2014, Sanjay joined the leading crew logistics company as its CEO [2]. The company provides logistics services to the private aviation and cargo industry.
Kingfisher Airlines
In 2010, Aggarwal joined Kingfisher Airlines as its CEO [3] at a time the airline was reeling under huge debt. Kingfisher at the time was the largest and most premium airline in India. It was owned by the Bengaluru based United Breweries Group. Despite several failed attempts to recapitalize the airline, it had to suspend operations in September 2012. The promoters and lenders continued to work towards reviving the airline. In February 2014, Aggarwal resigned as the CEO [4] and relocated back to the US.
Spicejet Airline
In 2008, shortly after WL Ross & Co acquired a large stake in Spicejet, Aggarwal was hired as its CEO [5]. Wilbur Ross Wilbur Ross made an investment at a time where the airline was struggling with the global financial crisis Financial Crisis of 2007-08, and had never had a profitable quarter since its inception in 2004 and was on the brink of bankruptcy. Under Aggarwal's leadership, the airline saw several consecutive quarters of profitability and Mr. Ross decided to sell his stake to the Sun Group. Aggarwal resigned [6] and joined Kingfisher Airlines.
Flight Options
In 2004, Aggarwal joined Flight Options which was majority-owned by Raytheon Technologies and a few other private equity investors. As its COO, Aggarwal participated in a turnaround of Flight Options from a loss-maker to a profitable enterprise. In 2007, Raytheon sold the company to H.I.G. Capital, a private equity firm based in Miami. In early 2008, H.I.G. sold the company to Ken Ricci, one of the original founders. Aggarwal left Flight Options in October 2008 to join Spicejet in India.
Marriott International and US Airways
Prior to joining Flight Options, Aggarwal spent 10 years with Marriott and US Airways (now American Airlines) in various management positions.
Personal life
Aggarwal currently lives in Miami Shores, Florida with his wife Preety. They have two children together: Mahima and Nandan.
