Saprea is an American non-profit organization founded in 2014 by Derek Maxfield and Shelaine Maxfield.[1] It is headquartered in Lehi, Utah, United States, with a regional office located near Atlanta.[2][3]
Originally called Younique Foundation, the organization changed its name to Saprea in 2022.[4] Saprea operates retreats for adult women who were victims of child sexual abuse. It facilitates support groups in 13 different countries.[5]
The mission statement of the organization is “Saprea exists to liberate individuals and society from child sexual abuse and its lasting impacts.”
Programs[edit]
The Saprea Retreat is a four-day in-person retreat for adult victims of child sexual abuse. More than 4,000 sexual abuse survivors have attended the Saprea Retreat since 2015.[6] The retreat was the focus of a 2020 study which examined the efficacy of group treatment interventions for victims of child sexual abuse.[7] To date, the retreat has hosted more than 3,000 participants.
Saprea also produced a series of online resources focusing on the effects of child sexual abuse.[8]
