Sarel Hayward
Sarel Antonie Strydom Hayward (5 August 1924 in Steytlerville – 2 October 1999) was a South African politician, and a member of the ruling National Party, representing the constituency of Graaff-Reinet in parliament (1969–1984).
He long served in the cabinet of P.W. Botha, first as Deputy Minister of Agriculture (1978–1980), Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries (1980–1982), Minister of Environmental Affairs, Water Affairs and Forestry (1982–1984) and finally as Minister of Agriculture and Water Affairs (1984–1986).
