Sarva Vidyalaya Kelavani Mandal (abbreviated as SVKM) is an educational trust Kadi registered under the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950[3]. Sarva Vidyalaya Kelavani Mandal was established in Gujarat in 1919. It is the parent trust under which Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya's[4] 22 constituent colleges(KSV) and 26 schools providing education to more than 52,000 students.[5] Narendra Modi said: “We have to remember those people, who have made a huge contribution in awakening the people. It is imperative for the current generation to know about them. They are the people behind the heights of success that Gujarat is scaling today — especially in the field of education. One such person was (philanthropist) Pujya Chhaganbha, who set up the Sarva Vidyalaya Kelavani Mandal, established in 1919. When Gandhi ji visited Chhaganbha’s Mandal, he urged people to send their children to study in Chhaganbha’s trust.”[6].

Sarva Vidyalaya Kelavani Mandal made headlines in June 2015 when the Government of Gujarat finalized to merge five government secondary and higher secondary schools in Gandhinagar into two for operational reasons before handing over these to an educational trust for 30 years for a token amount of 1 Indian Rupee in order to improve the standard of education as per the meetings between the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board and the trust, Sarva Vidyalaya Kelavani Mandal in Kadi near Gandhinagar, the five government schools — having nearly 1,000 students — would be merged into two, depending on the strength of each school and the distance between students to commute.[7].
