Sasha Alpert is an American film and television producer. She is the Executive Vice President of Bunim/Murray Productions and its documentary division, BMP Films, which she founded in 2008.

Early life[edit]

Alpert was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island. She is a graduate of Wesleyan University.[1]

Career[edit]

Alpert's films include Autism: The Musical, which won two primetime Emmy Awards, including Best Non-Fiction Special.[2] The film initially premiered on HBO. Alpert also produced Valentine Road, which premiered in competition at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013[3] and went on to air on HBO, where it was nominated for two Emmys[4]. She also produced Shadow Billionaire, the story of DHL founder and tycoon Larry Hillblom, which premiered on CNBC[5][6].

In addition to producing documentaries, Alpert oversaw casting for all of Bunim/Murray Productions’ reality shows for 17 years. In 2017, she and Megan Sleeper won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Casting for a Reality Program for for their work on the Born This Way television series[7] and has been nominated for numerous Emmys for Project Runway[8].

Alpert also produced Forever Hollywood[9], a film about the history of Hollywood that has played continuously at the American Cinematheque’s Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles for 18 years. She has also produced and directed for PBS, CBS, MTV, TBS, CNBC, and Disney Channel.[10]
