Sasha Kvashenaya (Russian: Cаша Ква́шеная; real name Alexandra Konstantinovna Kapustina, Russian: Алекса́ндра Константи́новна Капу́стина, born 29 July 1999) is a Russian singer, cover artist, streamer, and vlogger. She is known for her YouTube channel featuring covers and live performances of songs in various genres.

Early life

Kvashenaya was born in Prechistoye, Pervomaysky District, Yaroslavl Oblast, Yaroslavl Oblast, Russia. Since early childhood, she studied music, performed at the local House of Culture. She developed her vocal skills under the influence of her mother Olga.[1] At the age of 12, she began posting song covers on VKontakte, and in 2013 she launched her YouTube channel Саша Квашеная, which she continues to run as of October 2025.

Pseudonym "Kvashenaya" cab be translated as "sauerkraut" or "pickled". It originates from Sasha's family name "Kapustina" (Капустина) coming from "Kapusta" (Капуста), which is translated as "Cabbage". This nickname was used first time by a hacker replacing Sasha's name on her personal web page.

In 2017, she graduated from school. In the same year, she moved to Moscow and started hosting music streams. On the air, she performed covers of a variety of songs according to the requests of the audience.

In Moscow, she studied for three courses as a TV sound engineer, but did not complete her studies.

Career

At the age of 12, Sasha recorded her first cover song with a friend. She posted her videos on social media. A year after the publication of the first videos, Alexandra started blogging on YouTube.

Views of her videos started to exceed several hundred thousand in 2015, for example, the cover of the song "Marshrutka" by IOWA (this video has already gained 1.6 million views in 2025).[2]

Since 2017, Sasha has been hosting live music broadcasts on YouTube and Twitch, performing live covers and original songs. He also hosts guest song streams with other musicians.[3]

Sasha releases here own songs. The repertoire is based on pop songs, but there are also compositions in rock and folk genres.

In 2020, Sasha's first solo concert was held at the club "Moscow". Since then, she has continued to perform on stage periodically.

Since 2022, Sasha has started recording covers of famous songs with her own translations into Russian.

Kvashenaya prefers an independent path and does not cooperate with producers and labels, preferring creative freedom. Sasha writes all her songs herself and finds beatmakers on the Internet who make the final arrangement.

Projects and collaborations

In 2014, Sasha won the Kinder Music King All-Russian music competition.[4] For the victory, the song "Follow Me" was written specifically for Sasha and a video was shot with her participation.[1] This success helped Sasha's channel overcome the 100,000 subscribers mark.

In 2016, Sasha took part in the dubbing of the soundtrack for the cartoon The Powerpuff Girls, which was released on Cartoon Network. It was her first such experience. In 2021, Sasha voiced the character Pipp Petals in the Russian version of the animated film My Little Pony: A New Generation.[5]

The song became the official soundtrack for the game Atomic Heart: Trapped in Limbo and entered the Yandex Music chart. All the vocal parts in the recording were performed by Sasha Kvashenaya. Previously, the singer performed remixes of songs from the original version of Atomic Heart on her music broadcasts. In October 2025, Sasha and the Brotherhood of Atom released a remake of the song The Beautiful Afar in a rock arrangement.
