Plot[edit]

Matriarch Maa-saaheb (Lalita pawar) rules her mansion with an iron hand. Her daughter-in-law Vachcha (Asha Kale), the wife of her elder son, accepts all insults and humiliations quietly. Maa-saaheb's son-in-law Balasaheb (Nilu Phule) is a scheming villein who pretends to be her well-wisher while trying to grab all her property. He asks Maa-saheb to marry her son with a girl who he claims to have a good family background. But Maa-saaheb's younger son falls in love with Durga Mane (Ranjana) and marries her without consent of Maa-saaheb. Balasaheb thinks that Maa-saaheb will not allow her younger son and his wife in the house. But Durga insists that she has a right to stay in the house as any daughter-in-law has. Balasaheb is afraid that he won't be able to cheat Maa-saaheb in the presence of Durga who is morally good and has a strong personality. He convinces Maa-saaheb that Durga is her enemy and might even kill her to grab her property. Then he persuades Maa-saaheb to poison Durga. Accidentally the plan to kill Durga fails. Soon Maa-saaheb learns that the girl Balasaheb had tried to pass as a good one was actually not so good. This changes her opinion about Balasaheb. Balasaheb tries to kill her but Durga intervenes and saves her life. Balasaheb accepts his guilt. Durga persuades Maa-saaheb to forgive him. Movie ends with a happy note.
