Satish Mehta
Satish Mehta is the founder and CEO of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, an Indian multinational pharmaceutical company. He was born in a family of pharma retailers in Pune, India.[1] He is an alumnus of Pune University and Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Satish Mehta started Emcure in 1981 as a contract manufacturer and later started branded pharmaceuticals business.[2] He has been a member of committee to frame rules under the Indian Institutes of Management Act, 2017 – Ministry of HRD and Economic & Commercial Consultative Group (ECCG) – NITI Aayog, Govt. of India.[3] In 2017, Mehta was accused of artifically fixing high prices of generic medicines in the US.[4], [5]. Mehta also serves as a chairman of Gennova, an Indian biotechnology company that is developing mRNA vaccine supported by DBT-BIRAC[6] for COVID-19 in India.[7] He has been a member of committee to frame rules under the Indian Institutes of Management Act, 2017 – Ministry of HRD and Economic & Commercial Consultative Group (ECCG) – NITI Aayog, Govt. of India. He has 2 children who are part of management at Emcure.
