Sattai Duraimurugan is an Indian YouTuber.[1][2]
Career
He is a member of the Naam Tamilar Katchi political party.[3] He launched his YouTube channel in 2018.[citation needed] Now it has more than eight hundred thousand subscribers.[4]
Cases, arrest and bail
In 2019, a case was booked against Sattai Duraimurugan for a provocative speech about Rajiv Gandhi's death.[5]
In June 2021, Durai Murugan and three others were arrested for threatening to attack a man who criticized LTTE chief Prabhakaran on social media.[6][7]
Duraimurugan was arrested by Tiruvallur police in December 2021 for spreading false information that workers at the Foxconn factory in Sriperumbudur were suffering as a result of food contamination in the hostel.[8][9]
The police booked Duraimurugan under Goondas Act for inciting violence and disrupting public peace on 2 January 2022 and he was imprisoned for 7 months. On 13 July 2022 Madras HC dismissed Sattai Duraimurugan’s arrest on Goonda act and advised him after canceling the arrest and imprisonment order under Goonda act.[10][11]
