Ancestry[edit]
Sayyid Mir Hasan ia a Sayyid (a descendant of Muhammad through his daughter Fatimah and his cousin Ali ibn Abi Talib) in a patrilineal line. Among his paternal ancestors are seven of the Twelve Imams. After the Battle of Karbala, the Ahl al-Bayt went back to Medina.[1] From there Musa al Kazim was forced to go to Iraq.[2] The Musavis, i.e. the descendants of Musa al Kadhim, settled to Persia. One of them was Khwaja Sayyid Mir Ismail Muhammad Hakim, father of Khwaja Sayyid Mir Latif, an ancestor of Hazrat Sayyid Mir Hasan. The descendants of Sayyid Mir Latif then immigrated to Eastern Iran, where Sayyid Mir Hasan was born.[3][4]

Legacy[edit]
Sayyid Mir Hasan was the father and educator of his three children Sayyid Mir Jan, Sayyid Mahmud Agha and Sayyid Mir Fazlullah Agha. He has trained them in Sufism, Islamic Law and Theology. It was through his efforts and influence that his children became saints.[5]
As heir of the line of the Sayyid ul Sadaat, he supervised the descendants of Prophet Muhammad in Khorasan region as their Naqib ul Ashraf. He reportedly resembled Prophet Muhammad in physics and manner and married a descendant of Hazrat Ishaan, through which line his children became the Aqtab of the Naqshbandi order.[6]
