Scotcash
Scotcash is a not-for-profit, social enterprise and a Community Interest Company (CIC) formed to challenge financial exclusion, by implanting accessible financial products and services within the local communities. [1][2][3][4][5][6]
Aims
Scotcash aims to reduce financial exclusion by increasing access to basic bank accounts, affordable loans, high-quality advice on the handling of finances, and other financial products.[7][8]
History
Scotcash was founded in January 2007, with the help of Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Housing Association. Scotcash provides financial products and services to those who experience difficulties accessing mainstream financial services, such as banks and building societies.[9][7][10][11][12]
The services offered by Scotcash are credit[9], basic bank accounts, Credit Union savings accounts, and money advice for customers.[13][8][14]
Awards
Scotcash was the overall winner of the Guardian Public Services Awards in 2008.[15]
In June 2015, Scotcash won the Giordano Dell'Amore Microfinance Good Practices Europe Award 2015.[16]
In 2017, ‘Affordable Loans’ an initiative by Scotcash won ‘Fair Lender’ Award at Credit Awards.[17]
In 2018 Scotcash won ‘The Alternative Lender of the Year’ Award by Qualco UK.[18]
