Scott Kupa

Scott Kupa born Pedzisayi Sakupwanya, also known as Scott Sakupwanya is a Zimbabwean mining entrepreneur^[1] and politician.^[2] He is the current Chairman of the Gold Buyers Association of Zimbabwe.^[3]

Scott Kupa was born in Harare, Zimbabwe^[4] and he grew up in Mabvuku suburb east of Harare.^[5] Scott started gold dealing as a runner, then went on to establish his own operation which he established as Better Brands Mining Company, which is the only company that holds the license to export gold from Zimbabwe^[6] and it is one of the largest gold aggregating companies in Zimbabwe.^[7] In 2021, Kupa was appointed as chairperson of the Gold Buyers Association of Zimbabwe.^[8]

In 2020, Scott was recognised as most influential mining director of the year by the Institute of Corporate Directors Zimbabwe^[9] and was also named in the list of top executives under 40 in Zimbabwe.^[10]^[11]

In 2022, Scott Kupa was appointed interim president^[12] of Affirmative Action Group.^[13]^[14] He was also awarded Best Gold Buyer of the Year at the first edition of Mining Industry Awards held at the State House (Zimbabwe) handed by president Emmerson Mnangagwa.^[15]

Scott Kupa is the current elected Zanu PF councillor of Mabvuku.^[16]
