Archeological Excavations[edit]

Stripling began volunteering in archeological excavations in the early 2000’s which ultimately led to directing several of his own excavations. He served as a Supervisor of the Temple Mount Sifting Project (Israel), Field Supervisor at Tall el-Hamman (Jordan), Director of Excavations at Khirbet el-Maqatir (Israel) from 2014 to 2017, and Tel Shiloh (Israel) from 2017 to the present.[4] The first three seasons at Shiloh were the largest excavations in Israel, averaging 140 registered volunteers each season. [5]

Khirbet el-Maqatir[edit]

Building on the work that Bryant Wood started at Khirbet el-Maqatir, Stripling linked the site to Ai of Joshua 7-8 and Ephraim of John 11:54.[6]

Tel Shiloh[edit]

At Shiloh, the location of Israel’s first capitol, where the Tabernacle and Ark of the Covenant rested for over three centuries, Stripling excavated ceramic pomegranates, a possible horned altar, and storage rooms from the Tabernacle period. The pomegranate was a motif in the tabernacle and later in the Jewish temples in Jerusalem. Christianity Today named the ceramic pomegranate excavated at Shiloh one of the top ten finds in Israel for 2018.[7]

Books, Publications, Presentations & Media[edit]

Stripling is the author of The Trowel and the Truth, Second Edition (2017) [8]and Somebody Call 9:11 – Living in Covenant in Times of Crisis (2016).[9] Khirbet el-Maqatir, Volume II is forthcoming in 2020 as well as a chapter on the early date of the Israelite exodus from Egypt in Zondervan’s Five Views of the Exodus.
