Sea Bones is a 2015 picture book written and illustrated by Bob Barner. The book explains, in rhyme, the different underwater animals that have bones, from the crab to the seal, with some facts interspersed throughout the story.

Summary[edit]

The book begins with the fact that "wonderful creatures live in the sea",[1] and describes that a coral reef was "made from the skeletons of those who lived before".

The book contains facts about the animals in it, like the blue whale and the fact that scientists "believe there will be millions more to be discovered", according to the book, and that fish have a skeleton of bone.

Adaptations[edit]

In 2018, Weston Woods adapted this book to film, with narration and music by Crystal Taliefero. [2] In the film, the facts throughout the story are at the end of the film, in a section called "All About Sea Bones". It is animated and directed by Gary McGiveny.
