Sean Lawson (academic)

Sean T. Lawson is a professor of communication and media the University of Utah[1]

Lawson is Director of the Edna Anderson Taylor Communication Institute[2] at the University of Utah and a highly cited expert in military rhetoric and cyber security media.[3][4] He is a regular contributor to Forbes on cybersecurity issues.[5][6] He as a non-resident fellow at the Marine Corps University and was in 2019 a scholar at the Modern War Institute at West Point.[7][8] He researches and speaks publicly on the interrelationships and intersections among science, technology, and security.[9] He speaks on national security and military in the context of new media, social media, information, and communication technologies.[10]

Lawson has a Ph.D. in Science and Technology Studies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an M.A. in Arab Studies from Georgetown University, and a B.A. in History from California State University, Stanislaus.
