Seattle Youth Commission

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Seattle Youth Commission is a group of 15 youth that advise the Seattle city government and the government of King County as regards to policy that affects youth.

History[edit]

The origin of the Youth Commission dates back to 2002, when Mayor Greg Nickels held the first Youth Town Hall. Subsequently the Mayor's Youth Council was formed to increase the prominence of the youth voice in local politics.[1]

In 2010, the Mayor's Youth Council became the Seattle Youth Commission, gaining official recognition as a city commission. Commissioners are now confirmed by the Mayor and City Council.[1]
