Sedrick Shamari Burden (born January 20, 1996), known professionally as Seddy Hendrinx, is an American rapper, singer and songwriter. Raised in Jacksonville, Seddy Hendrinx gained initial recognition following the release of the commercial mixtape Death B4 Dishonor: Loyalty Over Everything (2018), which led to a recording contract with Atlantic Records, to whom he signed under DJ Drama's Generation Now imprint in 2019.[2]

Early life

Burden was born on January 20, 1996 in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was raised by his mother, who struggled to make ends meet. Entering into his freshman year of high school, Burden left his mother's house and lived in a homeless shelter. At the age of 15, he was arrested for the first time and began his journey as a "juvenile delinquent".[3]

Growing up, Burden listened to the likes of Tupac, Lauryn Hill, André 3000, DMX, Future, and Erykah Badu, but rap never seemed like an option until he witnessed the murder of his best friend Johnell in 2016. Gunned down at a party, Johnell’s last words struck a chord with Seddy, “Ball out for me”. “I had to stand up for him. I wasn’t going to let anyone disrespect his wishes, so I started rapping.”.[4]

Career

On August 1st, 2019, Seddy Hendrinx released his first single on Generation Now/Atlantic records entitled "LowKey".[5] The single caught the attention of rapper Future (rapper) who featured Seddy on the December 19th, 2019 release of 1800 seconds 2 sponsored by 1800 tequila. [6][7][8]
