Segub

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

According to the First Book of Chronicles, Segub (Hebrew: שְׂגוּבsəgūb, "exalted"[1]) was the son of Hezron and Machir's daughter (or Makir) and the father of Jair. Jair controlled 23 towns in Gilead at that time (the time of the Judges).[2][3]

According to the first Book of Kings, Segub was the younger son of Hiel of the house of Eli, the man who rebuilt the ruined city of Jericho, thereby invoking the death of Segub and his brother Abiram in accordance with the curse pronounced by Joshua on the occasion of the town's destruction (Joshua 6:26).[4]
