Seminole County was incorporated in 1913 after splitting off from Orange County. One of the first positions created and appointed was the County Tax Collector. The Seminole County Tax Collector is an independent constitutional officer duly elected by the residents of Seminole County. The Tax Collector's office has various duties and responsibilities they provide the citizens of Seminole County. They direct, plan, organize, budget, set and implement policies which affect not only the local government but also reach the state level as well. The Tax Collectors office does much more than just collect taxes.

The services provided by the Tax Collectors office are:

1.) Tag, title and motor vehicle registrations 2.) Drivers licenses and identification 3.) Birth certificates 4.) Concealed weapon permits 5.) Hunting and fishing licenses.

There have been 6 tax collectors since 1913. Below are the list and their dates of service:

1st- Honorable John Jinkins 1913-1947 2nd- Honorable John Galloway 1947-1964 3rd- Honorable G. Troy Ray Jr. 1964-1988 4th- Honorable Ray Valdes -1989-2016 5th- Joel Greenberg 2017-2020 (resigned) 6th- Honorable J.R. Kroll 2021- Present
