Sensation (センセーション, Sensēshon) is a Japanese band formed by the guitarist Yoshinobu Ohga in 2012, who plays the role of frontman. The band belongs to the Being labels group, in particular they are under the label D-GO affiliated with GIZA. The band is formed by four musicians that played and play for important Japanese artists like Mai Kuraki, ZARD, B'z etc. Originally it was only an instrumental band, but lately in 2019 the singer-songwriter Corry Nakamura joined the band as vocalist.[1]

All the band members were active in the previous bands - Asai was bassist of the pop band The★tambourines in years 2001-2011[2], Kurumatani was drummer in the pop-rock band U-ka Saegusa in dB in years 2003-2010[3], Ohga as guitarist and Ohkusu as keyboardist were active in the rock band OOM in years 2004-2009.

The band made its first debut on 25 July 2012 with the debut album "Sensation I". On 13 March 2012, they published their second album "Sensation II".[4] Both of the albums has failed chart in the Oricon Rankings.

On 14 May 2014, they published the third album "Sensation III".[1] It became their only album so far which debuted at number 164 on Oricon Album Weekly Charts and charted for one week. The fifth track of this album "Fantasista" was chosen as opening theme of the TV program "SUPER SOCCER" broadcast on TBS.[5][6]

In 2015 they published three consecutive digital singles "Acceleration", "Tsukikage (雪華)" and "Sekka (雪華)", each one with a distance of one month from the previous one.[7]


On 10 July 2016 five songs "Evoke", "Chaotic world", "Space-time navigation", "balance" and "Geometric" were used on the TV program "Minna no senkyo 2016" broadcast on Fuji TV. [8][6] Finally, on 16 November 2016 they published their actual last album "Sensation IV".[7] The eleventh track of the album was chosen as a opening theme to the Sun Television television program Onto in 2019.[9] In 2019, the singer-songwriter Corry Nakamura joined the band as vocalist.[1]


On 6 May 2020, during the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Japanese government declaration of a state of emergency, Sensation performed an online music session, in which they played a "Stay Home ver." of the track "Fantasista", to encourage people to stay home. Each of them played their own part at their respectively home. The video was uploaded on their official Youtube channel and Facebook page.[10][11]
