ServerSentinel is an agentless network monitoring software for Windows that is developed and distributed by JAM Software GmbH. The software offers sensors to check for problems on the same or other devices via different protocols (e.g. WMI, SSH, HTTP and SNMP) and uses actions to notify the user.
ServerSentinel was initially released in November 2008 by the German software development company JAM Software GmbH.
Features and licensing[edit]
Sensors[edit]
ServerSentinel uses sensors to monitor servers and server services[2]. The software is able to detected irregularities and visualizes data collected by sensors as graphs or tabularly[3]. Sensors are automatically executed in specifiable intervals, at fix times or are triggered by events. They can be structured hierarchically via groups.
Conditions and actions[edit]
ServerSentinel has customizable conditions. They allow the user to configure in which situations the actions should be triggered[2]. Actions are used to notify responsible persons about the detected problems (e.g. via Email, SMS, acoustic or optical warning signals)[2].
Licensing and distribution[edit]
ServerSentinel is licensed proprietary and is distributed via the developer’s online shop and reseller marketplaces[4]. The software is available as Small Business- and Enterprise Edition with 50 free sensors included in each. The distributor offers a free trial period of 30 days with an unlimited amount of sensors[5]
