Sevil Heydar gizi Aliyeva (Azerbaijani: Sevil Heydər qızı Əliyeva, 12 October 1955) is an Azerbaijani composer, and founder of Space TV.

Biography[edit]

Sevil Aliyeva was born on October 12, 1955 in Baku. She studied in department of the Arabic language of Faculty of Oriental Studies at Baku State University in 1971-1977. From 1977 to 1980 she studied at graduate school of the Institute of Oriental Studies of Academy of Sciences of the USSR. In 1981 S. Aliyeva defended her dissertation. She is a candidate of historical sciences.[1]

In 1981–1986 she was a researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

Since the first half of the 1990s, she has also been an active public figure and one of the organizers of the women's movement in Azerbaijan. On June 30, 1995, she became the chairman of the Women's Assembly of Azerbaijan.

Sevil Aliyeva has been living in London with her children for many years. S. Aliyeva is the author of a number of songs, including the elegy "Mother" dedicated to her mother, academician Zarifa Aliyeva. She is also the founder of Space TV.
