Shamrat developed a keen interest in acting and the visual media from a very early age. In an interview with Nexus Television he discussed his awe while watching the likes of the Indian Drama Series Sword of Tipu Sultan or American TV Series Raven as a child. The thrill he felt trying to imitate scenes from these popular shows while playing with friends planted a seed that would eventually morph into today’s Shamrat.
His acting life commenced as he joined a Theatre group named Palakar in his late teens and was praised for his performance in productions such as – Mangula, Dakghor, Moharaj & Tairalir Buke.[1]
Shamrat was introduced to Television through a Drama named “Jatishwar” directed by Suman Anwar. Some of his other notable work for television include - Vul written by Mesbah Uddin Suman and Directed by Azad Kalam and Bhasha O Maa directed by Sumon Anwar.
He has appeared in short films such as The Safe House and Janani.[2] The Safe House received Best Film Award in Sweden International Film Festival. His role in the movie Chironjeeb Mujib is also worth mentioning.
One of the highlights of his career is his performance as Captain Javed Naqvi in the film Lal Moroger Jhuti directed by Nurul Alam Atique. The movie has secured National Film Awards (Bangladesh) for 2021 in six different categories. He has worked in several serials for Television and OTT platforms including popular names such as – Jolputro and Shadar Ghat Er Tiger. He has appeared as police detective Ehsan in the web drama series Both directed by Amitabh Reza Chowdhury.[3]
Shamrat, not unlike his screen personal in Bodh treads the roads less travelled. Life, according to him should be a fully immersive experience. To quote him, "I am not only interested in the outer patels of a rose but also the dew drops nestled within."
