Shahnameh Khani (Persian: شاهنامهخوانی) is reading the poems of Ferdowsi Shahnameh in a special song. Shahnameh Khani was performed in two different assemblies, one in the assemblies of the readers and the aristocracy and the other in the coffee houses. Shahnameh Khani has been performed sitting in reading houses and standing in coffee houses. Shahnameh Khani is always performed individually or in groups and is accompanied by the Lor tribes in their performances with the tal instrument (local fiddle of Khorramabad) and with its own style. This culture has not completely disappeared among the Lor tribes and among the Lor people, although Lighter than before but stable.
Shahnameh Khani is different from Naqqali. There is no exaggerated speech and behavior in Shahnameh Khani, and the narrator tells the story using his own tone and sometimes uses some movements to convey meaning, but the Naqqali is a kind of one-man play and its performance is more complex than reading Shahnameh.[1]
