Mardās (Persian: مرداس‎) is Zahhak father and is a Old figure in the book Shahnameh. He was a devout and Humanitarians man. According to Shahnameh book, Mardas owned many herds of goats and sheep and is also known as the Leader of his Tribes.

Mardas historical background[edit]

The life of Mardas in Shahnameh dates back to a very ancient time. Shahnameh regarded him as the leader of the Tazi people.[1], and Mardas' son, Zahhak, inflicted irreparable damages on the Iranian people during his reign. Mardas may have been the leader or founder of the Akkad or Sumer dynasty.

Mardas had many domestic animals, especially Goats, cow, Sheep and Horses. Thousands were queued at milking animals like cows or goats. One morning Iblis came to Zahhak like a womans to deceive him. Eventually Him deception and said you must first make a promise not to betray us and Zahhak swore not to betray. Then Iblis said why there should be a Leader other than you in this land. You know, this old man doesn't live very much. Take this kingdom of the Father, which is beautiful to you.

Mardas would go to the place of worship every morning before dawn. Iblis and Zahhak plan was to make a well in the way of Mardas until he fell into the well and was killed. As a result, Mardas fell into a well one night while going to the place of worship and was killed.[2]
