Shamik Joy Sengupta
Shamik Joy Sengupta A Bengali poet, columnist, Editor, Publisher, painter, youtuber and queer activist. Started writing at the age of 8 in 1994 in Kochi kachar sobuj sathi, edited by Late Bimal Mukherjee. Born : 9th October 1986 in Kolkata, New Alipore. Parents : Mr. Abhijit Sengupta and Late Ketaki Sengupta Grand Parents: Late Satosh Sengupta and Late Manju Sengupta Late Motilal Kanjilal and Late Shantilata Kanjilal Editor in Chief - Magazine. A pioneer in Modern Bangali literary movement of little magazine. Apart from Saptoparno he edited many other journals, web magazines like Soukarjo, Khepchurias. His maternal family was also a zamindar family from Barishal, Piluhar. Late Comrade Salil Sen (Sengupta) from SUCI party was his uncle He was highly influenced by his aunt Purabi Kanjilal and uncle Debashis Kanjilal. Contemporary poets of his time : Srijato Bandopaddhyay, Binayak Bandopadhyay, Baijayanta Raha, Parthajit Chanda, Milan Chatterjee, Jubin Ghosh and others
Actively takes part in Indian Queer movement and anti 377 movement from 2011. As a poet he remains unacknowledged from the literary periphery, however his contributions and works are highly appreciated by many senior poets and writers like Nabaneeta Debsen, Krishna Basu, Mrinal Basu Chaudhury, Syad Hasmat Jalal and others. '
