Shan Ali Shamsi, (Born 2 September 1986) is a Pakistani film director, screenwriter, producer, production designer, cinematographer, editor, animator, visual effects artist, motion designer and colorist.

Life & Career

Shan was born in Tando Muhammad Khan, a city located in Sindh province Pakistan and moved to Karachi in 2009. He is studying for a Master's degree in media sciences, majoring in Film & TV, from Iqra University. He has worked for several renowned channels of Pakistan such as Mehran TV, Awaz Television Network, Aaj News, Dawn News, Express News (Pakistan) & Samaa TV[1] He also worked in Sharp Image, a leading production house of Pakistan, as a digital compositor and motion graphics artist where he worked on many famous brands’ TV commercials like Cadbury, Mobilink, Zong Pakistan, Qmobile, 7up, Allied Bank Limited etc.[2] He also worked on two Lollywood feature films as a visual effects artist in O21 (film)[3] and Na Maloom Afraad.

Awards and achievements

  • In 2018, his short film named Ankahi[4] was officially selected for screening at the 5th Iqra University Film Festival.[5]
  • In 2017, his 60-second short film named Hope[6] was officially selected for screening in Izhar By Film Fellowship.[7][8]
  • In 2017, he won the 1st Runner-up award at IU Creative Genius[9] competition for his animation.[10]
