Shanmugam Saravanan is an Indian cinematographer, writer and film director working predominantly in the South Indian film industry. He started his career with Poove Unakkaga, a Tamil romantic film starring Vijay and Sangita in the lead roles and was released in the year 1996. His second film as a cinematographer was Aahaa (Wow!), a Tamil family drama directed by Suresh Krishna with Rajiv Krishna and Sulekha in the lead roles. The film succeeded commercially and ran for 100 days.[1] He made his directorial debut in the year 2008 with tamil movie Silambattam which had Silambarasan Rajendar starring in dual roles while Sneha, Sana Khan, Prabhu also played major roles. He was also the writer of this movie which was declared a commercial success. The movie was later dubbed in Telugu and released as Maa Vaadu. [2]
