Shaquille Merasty (born June 22, 1991) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward. He is currently playing with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in the ECHL.
Professional Career
In 2017, Merasty made his professional debut with the Wichita Thunder of the ECHL. He scored his first professional goal on January 20, 2018 in a game against the Colorado Eagles.[1][2] He played 20 games with the Wichita Thunder and then was traded to the Rapid City Rush in February 2018.[3] Merasty played 8 games with the Rapid City Rush in March 2018, getting two goals and five assists before suffering a season-ending injury. During the 2018-2019 season, Merasty played 51 games for the Rapid City Rush scoring 10 goals and 14 assists before being traded on March 7, 2019 to the Orlando Solar Bears.[4] At the end of the 2018-2019 season, Merasty was released by the Solar Bears as an unrestricted free agent. On August 23, 2019, Merasty signed a standard ECHL players contract with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits for the 2019-2020 season.[5]
Amateur Career
Junior Hockey
Merasty played Junior hockey with the Portage Terriers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) for three seasons: 2009-10, 2010-11, and 2011-12. In both 2011 and 2012, Merasty was a MJHL Champion when they won the Turnbull Memorial Trophy[6]
College Hockey
Merasty played his freshman year (2012-2013) at Adrian College and was selected NCAA III West All-American Second Team in 2013 [7]. He transferred to the University of Manitoba where he played for three seasons: 2014-15, 2015-16, and 2016-17.

Shaquille Merasty's family is from the Berens Rivers First Nation in Manitoba, Canada.[11]
