Sharmin Sultana Sumi (better know as Sumi) is a Bangladeshi Singer. She is a lead vocalist of Bangladeshi famous band Chirkutt.[1]
Early Life[edit]
Sumi Born in Khulna.[2] She moved to Dhaka for study purpose. She was admitted in Dhaka University and completed her graduation.
Career[edit]
Sumi formed the Chirkutt Band in 2002. In addition to the Chirkut band's main vocalist, most of Chirkutt's songs are written and composed by sumi.[3] She also wrote lyrics and tuned for other artists.[4] She is also known as playback singer[5] for doing playback for movie Aynabaji.
She wrote a tribute song for heavy metal guitarist Zeheen Ahmed, who died suddenly in 2017.[6]
She has also wrote the song Dhire Dhire for Habib & Nancy[7] which has received over 2 million youtube views.

Awards and nominations[edit]
Sumi was honored with Anannya Top Ten Awards by the Bangla Academy.[11]The award was given to 10 persons including Sumi by Ananya Magazine on behalf of Bangla Academy for their special contribution to the society.[12] She also received nominations from 3rd Filmfare Awards East for Best Playback Singer and Best Lyrics.[13]
