Sharp Insurance
Sharp Insurance is a Canadian independent insurance brokerage headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. Founded in 2009, the company provides automobile, home, travel, recreational, and business insurance in several provinces. Since 2021, Sharp Insurance has been majority-owned by Synex Performance d’affaires, a Quebec-based insurance brokerage consolidator.[1]
History
Sharp Insurance was established in 2009 in Calgary, Alberta, as a digital-first brokerage.[2] The company grew by offering online and mobile insurance services, including a mobile app and self-service customer portal.
In April 2021, Synex Performance d’affaires announced it had acquired a majority stake in Sharp Insurance.[3] The acquisition was part of Synex’s expansion strategy into Western Canada.
