Shaurya Bhardwaj (born 23 March 1973), also known as Grandmaster Shifuji, is an Indian actor, action choreographer, chief action designer and mentor. He started his career in Bollywood films from the movie Baaghi (2016 film) as an actor.[1][2][3]
Early life & career[edit]
Shifuji was born in the town of Gurdaspur Punjab, spent most of his life in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab. His father Rudra Bhan K. Bhardwaj is an Indian Wrestler, retired from the department of Ministry of defense Gun Carriage Factory.[4] His mother, Nitambara Devi Joodhev Bhardwaj, was a teacher and worked with the slum dwellers, providing free education to the underprivileged all her life.[5]
Training Program[edit]
In 1999, Grandmaster Shifuji founded “Mission Prahar” an initiative to educate, train and empower the women across the nation. Mission Prahar is completely “free of cost” for rural India Women Community. He aims at training at least a crore of women in self-defense and survival tactics.[6][7][8]
Works[edit]
Master Shifuji is the chief managing director at Shifuji’s Advanced Security Solutions (SASS9) which includes many notable missions like Mission Prahar and Mission Meri Mitti.[9][10][11][12]
He is the Headmaster and Founder of Indian warrior monks tradition, a Gurukkal (kalaripayattu) tradition seasoned at Kalaripayattu.[13]
Shifuji also trained Mumbai Police after the 2008 Mumbai attacks.[14][15]
Master Shifuji worked as action designer and action choreographer for various films such as Baaghi (2016 film), Baaghi 2, Baahubali: The Beginning (2015), Action Jackson (2014) and Force (2011).[16][17][18][19]

Controversy[edit]
Grandmaster Shifuji has been accused of misusing the insignia of the Indian Army and wearing army and Special Forces uniform claiming himself as an army trainer. The issue was investigated by Crime branch and Master Shifuji declared clean from all the accusations by the state and central authorities, India in 2016. Master Shifuji has never claimed that he is an Indian army officer, nor he has stated to be recruited any post in the armed forces. His fans & followers, have attributed him to be an army officer since he has worn a replica of the balidan badge and Marcos insignia replica during his training program which is a customized dress code copyrighted under Copyright Act 1999.[20]
