Shayla Zulcic (born October 9, 2008) is an American competitive youth swimmer. Shayla started swimming when she was 8 years old following the steps of her older brother Benjamin Zulcic.[1][2]

Swimming career[edit]

Representing the Utah State team at the Western Championship Long Course in Portland in 2019, Shayla won first place in the West in 200 free 10U with the time 2:21.60 and breaking the Utah State record after 29 years. In February of 2020, Shayla as 11 years old being the youngest swimmer swimming at Utah Senior State Championship. Shayla currently holds four Utah state records for 10 and under, swimming for West Valley Aquatics under coach Michael Hillman.[3]

Short Course 100 free @ 58.00 and 200 free @ 2:08.19. Long Course 100 free @ 1:06.88 and 200 Free @ 2:21.60.

Shayla trained at The Race Club, a swimming club founded by Olympic swimmers Gary Hall, Jr. and his father, Gary Hall, Sr. The Race Club offers various swimming camps, swim clinics, and swimming technique video recording year-round for young swimmers at their Coronado, California-based training center. [4]

Shayla was with the USA team at the 2nd ISF Gymnaziada in Rio De Janeiro in 2023 winning 3rd place as a part of the 400 free relay team.
