She Code Africa (SCA) is a nonprofit organisation which provides technology skills for young girls and women across Africa. As of 2023, She Code Africa has chapters in multiple African countries, including Nigeria.[1]Their programs include bootcamps in Software Engineering, webinars and fireside chats on soft skills. Since its creation six years ago, She Code Africa has built networks to train young secondary school girls and women in relevant tech skills.

She Code Africa was founded in 2016 by Ada Nduka Oyom. Recognizing the gender gap in the African technology industry and the cultural challenges associated with it, Ada initiated a project to document the stories of African women in tech. As the initiative gained traction, She Code Africa transitioned from a community platform to a non-profit organization, to support African girls and women in tech and help them advance in their careers.

She Code Africa boasts a community of African women, hosted on Slack. The community serves as a platform to enhance networking opportunities and career prospects for women. It provides access to learning resources for women pursuing tech careers. She Code Africa has an academy for bootcamp organisation and training to help more young girls and women transition into the technology industry.
The organization's bootcamp provide various programs, such as software engineering bootcamps, product management, product design, and data science bootcamps. These programs consist of intensive training sessions and workshops that span several months to give young girls and women the necessary skills and knowledge for their desired roles in the technology industry. She Code Africa hosts an annual Cloud School program, a virtual bootcamp designed for African girls and women who aspire to pursue a career in Cloud Engineering. A contributhon bootcamp that trains women interested in contributing to open-source projects.
She Code Africa regularly organizes events for young girls and women to pursue technology across cities and tertiary institutions in Africa. these events include the She Code Africa Summit, with the inaugural edition being a hybrid event held in Lagos, Nigeria, in November 2022.
Initiatives[edit]
She Code Africa has implemented several initiatives to support its community members in pursuing careers in the technology industry. These initiatives include laptop scholarships, data scholarships, course scholarships, and financial aid for underprivileged girls and young women who may not have the means to afford these resources.
Partnerships[edit]
She Code Africa has established partnerships with various companies and organizations. In 2020, She Code Africa collaborated with Deimos Cloud to offer internships to young women participating in the cloud school program. Additionally, the organization has formed partnerships with notable entities such as Treford, Open Source Community Africa, Diwali, Nguvu Health, and Web3 Ladies, among others. Furthermore, She Code Africa has joined forces with the Lagos State Ministry of Education to promote and cultivate interest in STEM fields among young girls in junior and high schools.
