ShedRain is a privately held U.S. manufacturer of umbrellas and outerwear founded in 1947 and headquartered in Portland, Oregon.[1]

While most products are made in China, some high-end ShedRain umbrellas are produced at its Portland factory.[2] The company claims to be the oldest umbrella manufacturer in America[3] and the only umbrella company that continues to operate a manufacturing facility in the United States.[2][4]

The company produces white-label goods for other companies, which have been sold under the brand names of Adidas, Coach, Gap, and The Weather Channel, among others.[1][5] Its products have been featured in media such as The Washington Post,[6] New York Magazine,[7] and The Today Show,[8] and the company has received attention for inventions including a motorized umbrella that electronically collapses itself and retracts itself closed upon pressing a button,[9][10] and safety-focused umbrellas with built-in flashlights and reflective materials.[2][11]

The corporation's primary competitor is Totes Isotoner,[1] and its annual revenues were reported to be approximately $50 million in 2011.[12] As of 2019, the company has been assigned 10 U.S. patents[13] and granted 72 registered U.S. trademarks, of which 42 trademarks were active; an additional two were pending.[14]
