Sheham Siddik (1963/1964 – 13 August 2021) was a rugby union player from Sri Lanka.[1]
Career
He pursued his primary and secondary education at the Isipathana College. He played rugby representing Isipathana College in inter-school competitions and Asian Schools competitions from 1977 to 1982. He was part of the Sri Lanka Youth rugby union team which participated at the Asian Schools Rugby Championships in 1979, 1980 and 1982.[2]
He also played for Ceylonese Rugby & Football Club in the Sri Lanka Rugby Championship between 1982 and 1991. He later turned up for Kandy SC before announcing his retirement from the sport.[2] He served as a national rugby selector for a brief stint. He also played a key role in launching the first indoor rugby championship in Sri Lanka in 2006.[3]
Death
Siddik died on 13 August 2021, at the age of 57 due to COVID-19.[2]
